Polymer Play

Lillian the Domestic Engineer
Polymer Clay Cane Earrings

I just can't say enough about this wonderful stuff...
 Polymer Clay

Polymer Clay should be kept in the kitchen medicine cabinet and considered as a treatment or cure for

#1. Boredom
Got some time to fill? Even if you bake nothing, the pleasure of palming the Polymer placates the mind.
Give some 21st Century "Plasticine" to the kids to bust their boredom. Their  imaginations lay within just waiting to take shape!

#2 Physical Therapy
All work and no play is no way to be productive in therapy! Putting Polymer in the hands of the Elderly
puts play back into the work of therapy. Creativity just follows naturally.

#3 Depression
Feeling blue? The simple pleasure of producing an object of beauty and desire while sitting quietly with self, created from a baggy of clay that is then baked in the oven only 5 feet away,
can certainly cast a light at the end of an otherwise gloomy day.
(having suffered from both depression and Post Partum Blues I am not intending to make light of these very real medical conditions)

#4 Frustration
Things just not going your way? Can't find your Stress Ball? Plans suddenly changed for the day?
Punch it, poke it... take it out on the clay!

Make the most of your every day

We chose the path we take.

Lillian the Domestic Engineer

Each day we put one foot in front of the other
 moving forward and making choices.
We chose the path we take.

As we Search beyond the desire to fill our heart
with things that fill our spaces.
We choose the path we take.

Choosing the route that changes minds
happens amid the passing of time
and a day in the life of decisions.
We choose the path we take.

Faces on the corner of a one way street
struck by the souls of people they see
Staring blankly past their ability to stop and speak to reality

We choose the path we take.

I heard a beautiful Ah Ha moment the other day.
This fellow had come across a homeless man whom he chose to address. He asked the man if there was something that he could get for him, to which the elderly, homeless man replied,
"I'll take a handshake!" as he gave a smile.

The gift of respect for his humanity far out weighed his physical needs.
Stop to smell the roses today from wherever you be.

Blue Jean Skirts

                                                           up cycled Blue Jean Skirt
                                                        TIE ONE ON!
 Blue Jean Skirt.

For the BELT, I folded the wide end of this tie in half and hand stitched it about 4 inches along.
The full width of the tie looked too big on the skirt.
I folded the cotton material up from the bottom to create the finished hem on the skirt.
I finished the top seam and then top stitched the skirt to the denim.
A blue silver glass beads finishes the skirt. It does shimmer and shine and catch your eye as you walk.

There are so many beautiful, funky silk ties in the world out there waiting to be loved!
There are also many ties around my studio calling out to be needed.
I thought Ties the perfect pair and perk for these great summer skirts.
The Tie and scarf belts should be removed from the skirt to be hand washed separately.

                                                        Country and Chic
The soft ruffle and floral scarf add simple charm

Something Blue
I love this skirt.
Add a touch of class with the addition of a belt/scarf, a beautiful antique button and hand beaded
         trim.

Denim Skirt
                                       Light and Ladylike

The rayon bottom skirt was a ruffle that I cut from the bottom of a dress and stitched to the bottom of the denim.
The applique on the skirt front was once an applique on the front of a tank top.  I hand stitched it to the front of the skirt. The fun button was found in my wonderful collection of buttons.
The seam is finished with glass shimmery beads that are hand stitched.
                                                       Light and Ladylike!

                                                            It's Hip to be Square
This striped tie insisted that it was made for the plaid skirt.
The bottom ruffle was made from the leg material of both the shorts and the jeans.
The button adds pop and the beads add hip.
This tie was a bit thinner so I used it without folding and stitching it.

                                                        Flirty and Fun
These are a grey Lee Jean that I dressed up as skorts.
I used a lacy coral color seam binding on the leg hems
and at the waist as a belt.
The matching antique button adds flair and the sheer over skirt adds romance.
The lace waist can be worn folded down (as on top right) or up (as on top left side).
